Exemestane is a third-generation aromatase inhibitor, similar in structure to androstenedione. The drug is a crystalline powder of white or white with a yellow tone color. Exemestane inhibits aromatase and prevents estrogen formation. It also has the ability to suppress estrogen, without having an effect on the synthesis of cortisol and aldosterone in the adrenal glands. In medicine, the drug is used to treat breast cancer in postmenopausal women.

Exemestane’s effectiveness

Athletes use Exemestane to block the side effects caused by taking steroids. Typically, these effects manifest as gynecomastia, water retention and fat gain. In some cases, aromatase inhibitors reduce body fat and improve the look of muscles.

But there is a downside to the use of aromatase inhibitors. Exemestane perfectly inhibits estrogenic side effects, but also blocks the healthy properties of estrogen and eliminates good cholesterol.

Exemestane dosage

Exemestane is approved by the FDA for the additional treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone-positive early breast cancer after treatment with Tamoxifen. Therapy begins 2-3 years after the end of treatment with Tamoxifen if the treatment was ineffective. Aromasin treatment lasts for the next 2-3 years, and ends after 5 years of cumulative additional drug therapy (with the combined use of Tamoxifen and Exemestane). In all cases, a dosage of one 25mg tablet per day after meals is prescribed.

To combat the side effects of steroids, an individual dosage of Exemestane ranges from 12.5mg to 25mg per day during a cycle. Although, this isn’t a drug that needs to be taken every day while you’re on a cycle, most of the time, two to three days per week does the job.

The majority of people will find that 12.5mg every two days works very well, but your dose and frequency will heavily depend on the intensity of the steroids you’re using and your individual sensitivity to estrogen and Exemestane itself.

Rarely, athletes will find that a 25mg dose every two days or even every day is required to keep estrogen at bay, but due to potential effects on cholesterol, this high level of intake should only be done for a short period of time as needed.

Side effects

When using this drug, the following side effects are possible: fatigue, dizziness, pain in the head, poor sleep, depression, nausea, lack of appetite, constipation, acne, excessive sweating, hair loss and low concentration of lymphocytes in the blood.
